Shuttleworth Collge - Shuttleworth

Richard Shuttleworth, a well known racing driver of the time and collector of all kinds of machines, inherited the estate in 1932. He joined the RAF at the start of the Second World War and unfortunately was killed in a flying accident in 1940.

Dorothy Shuttleworth, mother of Richard, set up the Shuttleworth Trust and Agricultural College in 1944.

It is unlikely that the works of Gowing and Hunt Limited will feature anywhere but here in the history of the park but it should be recorded that the boiler plant to the main house was completely renewed, as was the plant in the stable block.

Gowing and Hunt Limited carried out the design, installation and commissioning of the boiler plant. Reinstatement of the areas affected by the works were project managed by Gowing and Hunt Limited and the works were carried out by specialist conservation approved builders and decorating contractors.
