Training

Training is ongoing and relevant. Gowing and Hunt Ltd understand, promote and value the relationship between training, health and safety, and productivity. We are proud of our investment in a robust training policy which we believe is instrumental in us having had no reportable accidents.

We use labour which is best trained, suited and qualified to carry out specific duties. All management and site staff carry Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards.

Site supervisors undergo the relevant course for Site Supervision and Risk Assessment.
All staff attend Emergency First Aid and Asbestos Awareness training. Some of the training undertaken includes :

Our apprentices follow the Modern Apprenticeship NVQ course.
Student engineers follow the BSE Foundation Course.

Experienced labour (where applicable) complete the APL (Acquired Prior Learning) work based NVQ.

As a company we encourage participation and involvement in all aspects of our industry ; our Training Manager is Chair of the Eastern Counties BSE Training Awards and our Electrical Manager is Vice Chair of the Cambridge branch of the ECA.
We are a company member of the West Norfolk Training Group.

Gowing and Hunt Ltd's training policy is driven and overseen by a full time working director of the company, who is also a board member and trustee of SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for our industry ; an HVCA council member ; chair of the Eastern Counties Group and contributor to the Regional Training Groups.

Due to her commitment to education and training she is now a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Trade and Commerce.
On the Job Training
